Day 88 - 02 Mar.2012 - Recife

Today we had to give our car back to the rental company. It was quite a sad moment as it was more or less our home for the last three months. We got it freshly washed, got the caminho-sul stickers off and drove to the rental place. Marcos, the owner was amazed tat after 25,000 km the tyres were still so good looking. In general everything went smooth for the handover. It was only back in Scotland when we discovered that he had charged us some £900 for some extra third party insurance which he believed we needed in the Mercosul countries. The fact is that we needed this insurance called carta verde, which we bought in Chuí in southern Brazil before we crossed into Uruguay. But the price is something like £80 and not £900. Well one always learns. Next time we look for a car somewhere else.
We went into town to buy some presents to take with us - permitting the space in our luggage. In the evening we went all together for dinner to the Orla of Olinda. At the restaurant was a guy playing life music, most of it quite old from the youth days of Jacqueline and Gileno who was sinning loud with it. It was a lovely evening.
