Day 87 - 01 Mar.2012 - Recife

Today we had to go back to Recife from where we started out trip 79 days ago. It was in a way a strange feeling to realise that we are coming to an end of our trip but at the same time a relief that all, but really everything went fine. no problems wit the car, no accidents, not even driving over a bird or street dog. Everything went just fine. We spent the morning still at the beach at the pousada and left in the afternoon to drive the last 60 km back to Recife. We arrived at Jacqueline's flat one hour later and got a lovely welcome from Jacqueline, Junior and Camilo.
For the last time on our trip we unpacked the car and carried all our gear up into the flat. It somehow looked like that we had accumulated more junk as the room looked like a dumpsite once we had everything offloaded. We sorted things by "useful", "not so useful", "comes with us", "stays here" and "going to the trash". It looked slightly better but even though still a lot of stuff.
Later on at night Gileno was coming by plane from Brasilia. He go a lift by the health minister on the governmental plane and Junior and I picked him up at about 2 AM from the military base of the airport. It looks like quite a different way of air travel, just getting off the plane and walk away. No busy entrance halls or queuing. We drove back into town and stopped for a quick beer or three at a bar. It was raining quite heavily this night and there was no way of sitting outside somewhere. It was after three when we got back home and fell into bed.
