Day 46 - 20 Jan.2012 - Los Antiguos

A boring day was lying ahead of us. This was partly because we are going up the Ruta 3, a stretch we had been driving down a couple of days ago, and partly because we will cross Argentina along the Ruta 43 to the west towards the Chilean border and the Andes with nothing worth seeing along its way. The stretch along the Ruta 43 across the country was in particular tedious. Las Heras seem to be another oil town in the Patagonian desert. Miles before reaching the town, the Pampa steppe was cluttered with plastic bags and anything else the wind can carry away from the town – quite a sad view - and then everywhere the oil pumps. It seems that the production is still increasing as we have seen the big American mobile land-rigs travelling about. After a staggering 627km, our record so far, we reached the border town of Los Antiguos at the Lago Buenos Aires, famous for its cherry plantations. We are almost there where we meant to be if it wasn’t for the shortage of diesel in the region further south.

Dzień 46 – 20 stycznia 2012 – Los Antiguos

Mieliśmy przed sobą dość nudny dzień. Częściowo ponieważ znowu jechaliśmy Ruta 3, ten sam odcinek którym już wcześniej jechaliśmy na południe, a częściowo ponieważ przejedziemy przez Argentynę wzdłuż Ruta 43 na zachód w kierunku granicy z Chile i Andów, gdzie tak na prawde nie ma na czym zawiesić oka.
Odcinek wzdłuż Ruta 43 przez Argentynę był w szczególności nieciekawy. Las Heras wygląda jak kolejne miasto z rafinerią na ‘pustynnej’ Patagonii. Daleko przed miastem stepy Pampy zaśmiecone są plastikowymi siatkami i wszystkim tym co wiatr wywieje z miasta - raczej smutny to widok – a zaraz potem wszędzie pompy wydobywające ropę z zmiemii. Wygląda na to, że produkcja wciąż rośnie gdyż widzieliśmy ogromną, mobilną, amerykańską wieżę wiertniczą krążącą w tej okolicy.
Po całych 627km, jak dotąd nasz record, dotarliśmy do granicy w mieście Los Antiguos nieopodal Lago Buenos Aires, znane z uprawy czereśni. Jesteśmy już prawie tam gdzie planowaliśmy. Nasze plany pokrzyżował fakt, że w południowych rejonach kraju nie było w ogóle paliwa.
