Day 17 - 22 Dec.2011 - Vinhedo

One thing we forgot to mention a couple of days ago is that we washed our dirty cloths when we arrived in Brasilia. What we did not take into account was the rain. With the constant high humidity and low temperatures in Brasília the cloths never got dry and started to smell. Now that we left Brasília, the first thing we did when we arrived in the hotel in Uberlândia was to spread all our half wet cloths across the hotel room. And here we go; in the morning all cloths were dry again (the smell stayed however).
We left Uberlândia at about 10 in the morning and followed the BR-050 direction São Paulo. To our surprise the road started with a dual carriage way and it turned out it never stopped the whole day till we reached Vinhedo just south of Campinas. If it wasn’t for the occasional palm and bamboo trees and massive Fazendas next to the road, you could easily imagine to be somewhere in Europe. The drawback of the fantastic road is the toll we had to pay. Till we reached Vinhedo we spent about 60R$ on road toll. A bit on the salty side but the fast way of travel was worth it. We arrived after 530km and 6 hrs of driving at 4 in the afternoon. We decided to go past Campinas to a smaller city as the traffic around Campinas was getting quite dense and neither of us felt like fighting trough it in search for a hotel.
We stayed in a small Pousada just outside Vinhedo and spent the afternoon lying in the hammock. Later on in the evening we went into town to indulge ourselves to an Italian Pizza made in São Paulo State. They say the best pizza outside Italy is made here.
